Top-ranked (1A) Lakewood Park trimmed host Lakeland, 6-1 in varsity softball play last Friday night.
Four Lady Laker errors and timely doubles by Jaclyn Delagrange, Courtney Sliger and Brooke Herendeen helped stake Lakewood Park to a 5-1 lead after just two innings. Delagrange would finish the contest with three hits.
Lakeland managed just one run off of winning hurler Mikeila Boroff, who scattered six hits, walked none and struckout 12. Jill Mingus’ single in the bottom of the first accounted for the Lady Laker tally. Ashlynn Grubb, who doubled ahead of Mingus, scored the run.
Grubb wound up with a pair of doubles and pitched the final five innings for the 2-1 Lady Lakers, whiffing eight. Madison Campbell contributed two hits to the Lakeland attack.
