Lakewood Park boys blitz Lakeland

 

Strong starts to each half carried Lakewood Park past Lakeland, 68-38 in varsity boys basketball action Tuesday night in Auburn.

The Panthers leapt to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and took a 36-22 advantage into the halftime break. Lakewood then hit the Lakers with a 17-5 burst in the third stanza to build a 53-27 cushion.

Blake Mann led a trio of Lakewood Park players in double figures with 19 points. Wesley Davidson and Brooks Gerke followed with 14 and 13 markers, respectively.

For Lakeland, which saw its season record dip to 1-4 with the result, Chandler Mynhier canned four field goals and all five of his free throws for a team-high 13 points. Mitch Herber pitched in nine tallies.
