Lakes council earns water award

The LaGrange County Lakes Council received the Outstanding Group of the Year Award at the 2014 Indiana Lakes Management Society’s annual conference, held recently in Bloomington.

The award cited the group’s Volunteer Water Stewards program and their work with various county boards and organizations to help ensure continued water quality in area lakes.

The council’s innovative water quality testing program has member lakes tested five to six times per year at the same cost of having outside contractors gather water samples only twice a year.

The LaGrange County Lakes Council meets the fourth Thursday of each month at the County Annex Building.
