Concord and East Noble each dealt the Lakeland boys basketball team home defeats in the opening week of the 2011-12 campaign.
Last Tuesday, Jason Spriggs led a quintet of Concord players in double figures with 16 points, as the Minutemen rolled to a 73-47 victory over the Lakers. Concord outscored the hosts, 36-16 in the middle two quarters.
DuWhan Alford, Franco House and Seth Huxford each tallied 11 markers for the Minutemen. Ramon Johnson added 10.
Jalen King highlighted the Laker effort by pouring in a game-high 28 points. King nailed three of Lakeland’s seven, three-point baskets.
Saturday night, East Noble escaped LaGrange with a 42-39 triumph over Lakeland. Trailing 20-18 at halftime, the Knights forged a 24-19 scoring edge in the final two periods to secure their second win of the season.
T.J. Blair’s 12 points topped the East Noble ledger. Spencer Mortola had a dozen markers and King 10 to pace the Lakers.
