Lakeland wins track invitational

Lakeland successfully defended its own boys track invitational championship last Friday.

Led by double individual champions Joseph Trost and Evan Garretson, along with two winning relay units, the Lakers piled up 155 points in the meet, 23.5 more than the 131.5 tallied by runner-up Sturgis. Prairie Heights was third with 82.

Trost captured blue ribbons in the 1600-meter (4:29.90) and 800-meter (2:04.70) races. Garretson netted top honors in the shot put (52-7) and discus (152-0) tosses.

Eric Herber, Mitch Herber, Mishael Theis and Trost linked up to win the 3200-meter relay (8:35.80). Joel Miller and Taylor Raatz joined Mitch Herber and Trost to form the victorious 1600-meter relay quartet (3:34.50).

Prairie Heights was led in the meet by Zach Shepard, who took firsts in the 110-meter hurdles (15.60) and the pole vault (13-0). Panther teammate Dillon Henschen outran the field in the 400 meters (52.70).
