A 13-run third inning propelled Lakeland to a 16-1 rout of NECC softball rival West Noble Tuesday night in Ligonier.
Nine of the Lady Laker markers in the third came after two outs. Lakeland’s last three runs came on a 235-foot home run off the bat of Ashton Miller in the fourth inning.
Madison Campbell went 4-4 at the plate with two doubles, three RBI and three runs. Miller finished with three hits and five RBI, and Paige Gust knocked in three runs with a double and two singles. Kristen Wiese and Laken Detwiler both whacked two-run doubles.
Gust, who gave up a run in the first, held the Lady Chargers scoreless the rest of the way to earn the pitching triumph. Gust allowed just two hits, did not walk a batter and fanned 12.
The win improved the Lady Lakers to 6-5 overall and to 3-3 in the NECC.
