Lakeland softball team nips Central Noble

Kristen Wiese’s one-out triple in the bottom of the seventh inning brought home Jill Mingus with the game-winning run for Lakeland in its 6-5 triumph over Central Noble last Thursday.

The visiting Lady Cougars had tied the game at 5-all on Kennedy Forker’s two-run double in the top of the seventh. After Mingus singled with one out, Wiese ripped a drive which eluded the Central Noble right fielder and allowed Mingus to scamper home.

Bailei Aldrich, Laken Detwiler, Abby Bustos and Madison Campbell each had a hit for the Lady Lakers, who improved to 4-2 in the NECC with the win.

Paige Gust did the pitching for Lakeland, scattering five hits, walking one and striking out one in seven innings.
