Lakeland slams West Noble in football action

Cory Troyer rushed for 145 yards on just four carries as Lakeland slammed West Noble, 59-6 in NECC football play last Friday night in LaGrange.

Three of Troyer’s totes resulted in touchdowns. The first time he touched the ball, Troyer raced 82 yards to paydirt. A little over two minutes later, Troyer scampered 26 yards to the end zone for his second tally.

Troyer completed his night with a 19-yard scoring jaunt with 4:24 left before halftime.

Joey Fuller, who carried five times for a total of 66 yards, found the end zone twice on runs of 22 and 41 yards. Fuller also capped off three Laker touchdowns with two-point conversion bursts.

Quarterback William Kelly hooked up with Jordan Aldrich on a 26-yard connection to account for one of the three remaining Lakeland touchdowns. The other two came on a 31-yard sprint from scrimmage by Taylor Raatz and a 36-yard fumble recovery and return by Logan Owens.

West Noble avoided a shutout when Erik Mawhorter bolted 34 yards for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. Mawhorter finished with 105 yards rushing on 25 carries.

Kelly was 6-7 passing for 78 yards. Aldrich and T.J. Thompson each came down with two receptions covering 35 and 29 yards, respectively.

Lakelandimproved to 5-0 overall and in the NECC with the easy victory. The Lakers travel to Eastside this Friday for a 7 p.m. date with the 2-3 Blazers.
