The Lakeland School Corporation opened a total of seven bids for its proposed administration center Tuesday afternoon.
The bids included the base price along with an alternate deduction for the deleting of a mobile file storage system.
Companies bidding, with base bid and alternate deduction were:
Brown and Brown General Contractors, Inc. - $1,227,000; $10,900.
Gibson-Lewis, LLC - $1,343,000; $11,500
Hamilton Hunter Builders, Inc. - $1,141,281; $10,541
Majority Builders - $1,287,900; $11,300
Milestone Construction, Inc. - $1,221,000; $11,000
Schrock Commercial - $1,222,191; $10,541
Signature Construction by Mike Ley - $1,137,819; $10,500
The bids were higher than the initial estimate. The project was expected to cost around $1 million, which included furnishings.
“Bids came in over estimate enough that I have concerns that I will share with the board Monday evening,” Superintendent Risa Herber said. “We will take into consideration how to get the project within budget and we will get it within budget.”
The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 20, in the Lakeland Administration Center.
