Lakeland Leads Area Wrestlers At NECC Super Dual Meet

Lakeland led the area’s wrestling teams in Saturday’s NECC Super Dual meet held at Westview.

The Lakers won three of their five matches in the event, Prairie Heights forged a 2-3 mark and Westview finished 1-4. Churubusco was the lone squad to go 5-0 in the meet while Angola, now coached by former Prairie Heights skipper Doug Smoker, posted a 4-1 slate.

Lakeland defeated Central Noble (42-28), Eastside (56-24) and Westview (51-25). Losses came against Angola (63-12) and Fairfield (60-24). Lukas Long (106 pounds) and T.J. Thompson (132) each went 4-1 in their bouts.

Prairie Heights, behind unbeaten grapplers Kyle Mockensturm (106), Joe Boots (126) and Reed Holcomb (160), recorded team wins over Westview (52-30) and Eastside (60-21). Downing the Panthers were Fairfield (43-33), West Noble (43-42) and Churubusco (54-30).

Westview earned its lone win of the day over Central Noble (45-30). Warrior losses came against Lakeland, Prairie Heights, Angola (59-17) and West Noble (45-24).
