Lakeland began its varsity gymnastics season last week by placing third in the Elkhart Central Invitational.
Led by a runner-up finish by Lynne Glick in the uneven bars and four, third-place results by Chloe Sturdivant, the Lady Lakers compiled a team count of 97.05 points, just a tick behind second place Plymouth, which totaled 97.60. Host Elkhart Central took first with 101.00.
Glick scored an 8.40 on the bars, nipping out both teammate Sturdivant and Cassi Quissle of Plymouth by one-tenth of a point for second position. Holly Lehman of Central was first with a score of 9.20.
Sturdivant tied for third in both the balance beam (8.20) and floor exercise (8.30). She claimed sole possession of third place in the all-around (33.00).
