The Lakeland boys cross country team won the Boys 11-12 Grade Division championship Saturday in the Centreville Invitational meet held at Glen Oaks Community College.
Led by the runner-up finish of Joseph Trost in a time of 16:10, the Lakers came in with a score of 25 points, 14 fewer than second-place Sturgis (39). Three Rivers was third with 43 and Prairie Heights took fourth with 51.
Mitch Herber and Andrew Duzan cracked the top 10 for Lakeland, with Herber taking fifth in 17:22 and Duzan seventh in 17:39. Mishael Theis was 11th in 18:57 and Peter Thompson 15th in 19:24.
Nicholas Lagemann of the Panthers won the 11-12 Grade boys race with sizzling effort of 15:55.
Three Lakers competed in the Boys 9-10 Grade Division race. Kyle Burchett finished seventh overall in 18:09, Garrett Chrisman 12th in 18:40 and Corey Collins 30th in 19:43.
Lakeland had three entrants in the Girls 9-10 Division race. Massie Maskow placed third in 21:07, Ashlynn Maskow fourth in 21:17 and Celeste Wentworth in 28:51.
