Lakeland squeezed out a 44-42 varsity boys basketball victory over NECC foe Hamilton last Friday night on the Marines’ court.
Playing without top scorer Spencer Mortola due to an injury, the Lakers found themselves trailing by a count of 19-15 at halftime. The visitors rallied to tie the score at 30-all by the end of the third quarter, then out scored the hosts, 14-12 in the final stanza to secure their first league win of the season.
Mitch Herber led the Lakers in scoring with 14 points. Right behind him with a dozen markers was Daemyn Priestley.
Casey Rote paced Hamilton with 14 tallies. Addison Stephens chipped in 11.
