Lakeland boys drop two at Angola

Lakeland dropped a pair of varsity baseball decisions at Angola Saturday.

The host Hornets forged an 8-2 victory over the Lakers. Leading 2-1 entering the bottom of the third, Angola pushed across four runs in the frame to extend its lead to 6-1. Single markers in the fourth and fifth innings boosted the Hornet margin to 8-1.

Dylan Dunn had two of the six Lakeland hits in the tilt and scored one of the Laker runs. Nolan Isaacs singled and scored. Britain Isaacs, Kyler Bowers and Kole Miller also slapped safeties.

Drew Grossman suffered the pitching loss. He scattered six hits, struckout five and walked three.

In their second game of the day, the Lakers fell by an 18-5 count to Peru. Britain Isaacs poked a pair of singles and scored three runs in the setback. Grossman socked a RBI double and Hunter Frost lined a RBI single. Dunn, Bowers, Miller and Isaiah Lehman all had singles.
