Lakeland boys beat Central Noble

 

 

Lakeland outscored Central Noble, 21-8 over the final eight minutes to secure a 53-42 NECC boys basketball victory over the host Cougars last Thursday.

Trailing 34-32 at the end of three periods, the Lakers tallied the first 10 points of the fourth quarter to take the lead for good. They then salted away the win by hitting seven free throws over the last four minutes.

Spencer Mortola, who was 4-4 at the charity stripe in the decisive frame, wound up with 22 points to pace Lakeland. Brant Betts chipped in 12 markers.

Alex Vice led Central Noble with 19 points.

The win improved coach Ryan Yoder’s Lakers to 3-5 in NECC play and to 6-11 overall.
