Lakeland saw its baseball season come to an end Monday night in soggy Emma, as the Lakers fell to NorthWood, 12-1 in the semifinals of the 3A West Noble sectional. The game was moved to Westview due to unplayable conditions at Charger Field.
Blake Cleveland had three hits and drove in four runs for the Panthers. Hunter Lane knocked in two with a home run.
Nick Byler scored the lone Laker tally on a wild pitch in the sixth inning. Byler reached base on a double, one of only three Lakeland hits off winning pitcher Kyle McCoy, who struck out 12.
The Lakers bow out with a 7-16 record.
Fairfield stomped West Noble, 15-3 in the opening semifinal. The Falcons and Panthers are scheduled to meet Tuesday evening at West Noble for the championship.
