Lakeland went 1-2 in non-conference baseball action this past weekend.
The Lakers began their three-game stretch Friday night with a dramatic, 8-6 victory at Elkhart Christian. Tied at 6-all entering extra innings, Lakeland plated two runs in the top of the eighth and relief pitcher William Kelly held the Eagles scoreless in the bottom of the frame to secure the win.
Nick Byler homered and drove in two runs to spearhead the Lakeland attack. Ryan Oakley, Morgan Moore and Austin Keckler each had RBI hits, while Hunter Sams garnered three safeties.
Lakeland traveled to East Noble Saturday and fell twice to the Knights by counts of 16-4 and 11-0.
An 11-run second inning boosted East Noble in the opener. Moore, Kelly and Kyle Casper each slapped RBI singles for the Lakers.
Moore (double) and Casper (single) got the only Lakeland hits off Knight hurler Taylor Rich in the nightcap.
The Lakers stand 6-18 on the season.
