The Lakeland School Board approved the 2012-2013 Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Lakeland Education Association (LEA) at a special meeting Wednesday evening.
Superintendent Risa Herber described the two evenings of negotiations as “very pleasant. I thank the LEA for the cordial nature of the negotiations.”
Board President Bob Bond thanked the LEA for coming to an agreement so quickly.
LEA Co-President Gerrit Geurs told the board that the overwhelming majority of teachers had voted in favor of the agreement.
“Everyone was realistic,” board member Steve Bowen noted.
Geurs commented that most of the changes in the agreement came about due to changes in state law.
Herber added that some money had been placed in a pool for teacher performance based on data starting in 2013. “It is based on academic needs and effective performance of our wonderful teachers,” Herber stated.
