LaGrange man arrested for battery on child

The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by Parkview LaGrange Hospital on March 3 regarding a possible battery complaint.

According to the police report, Skyler Baker, 21, of LaGrange had been babysitting his girlfriend’s eight-month-old baby when he began crying. In an attempt to calm the child, Baker allegedly pressed the baby tightly against his chest, which resulted in the child being partially suffocated. The baby was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital for treatment.

Baker was arrested for Battery on a Minor Less Than 14 Years of Age and taken to the LaGrange County Jail. This case is still under investigation.
