There will be a book signing from 3-4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, at the LaGrange County Public Library on Spring St. in LaGrange.
Author Neal Brandan Parks will be on hand to sign copies of his book, Battle of Grace. The public is invited at this event to speak with the author, ask questions, and peruse his book. Battle of Grace is available in both soft cover and e-book formats.
Battle of Graceis a unique and original work by Parks, a Ligonier native. This collection is sure to encourage readers’ faith with its thought-provoking poems and stories. A few of the poetry topics are children, love, salvation, and heaven. The suspenseful stories will pull readers in and maybe give them a little fright.
Entertaining and inspiring, Battle of Grace will inspire conversation after conversation as readers consider what a struggle we have allowing God’s grace to change us into people a lot more like Him.
Second Saturday Book Club...
The Second Saturday Book Club will meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Emma Café on the corner of CR 600W and CR 200S. The club will be discussing The Housekeeper and the Professor byYoko Ogawa.
The book club is open to anyone age 16 and older who wishes to attend.
There will be a photography class hosted by Guy Thompson from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. Registration is required by calling 260-463-2841 ext. 1030 or stop by the reference desk at the library.
Participants will learn how to get the most out of the camera they have right now. This class is for beginning and intermediate photographers with point-and shoot or DSLR cameras who want to take better photos.
The class will cover some of the basic settings to get the best out of a camera, followed by tips on how to take better photos. The class will venture out and shoot pictures around town for a while before returning to look what was shot and to discuss how to make pictures better.
Introduction to Windows 7...
An Introduction to Windows 7 class will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the LaGrange library. Registration is required by calling 260-463-2841 ext. 1030 or stop by the reference desk at the library.
Participants will discuss the mouse, desktop, toolbar, icons, windows, and more.
Learn to knit...
The public can learn to knit from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the LaGrange County Public Library. Registration is required by Friday, Oct. 19, by calling 260-463-2841 ext. 1030 or stop by the reference desk at the library.
Participants will learn to knit, purl, cast on, and cast off. All supplies are included and will be yours to keep, including a pattern for a mug cozy.
Story Time is at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Tuesday at the LaGrange County Public Library on Spring St. Come join Professor Snoozy and friends for some fun stories. The theme for October will be “Monsters.”
On Tuesday, Oct. 2, the story will be Snarlyhissopus.
On Tuesday, Oct. 9, My Monster Mama Loves Me will be the featured story.
On Tuesday, Oct. 16, I’m Coming to Get You will be read.
On Tuesday, Oct. 23, the story will be Go Away, Big Green Monster!
The last book for the month will be Trick or Treat Little Critter on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
Movie of the Month...
At 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, the LaGrange County Public Library will be showing a double feature. The first movie will be the Peanuts classic, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” followed by “Dark Shadows,”rated PG-13.
Children under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult to stay for “Dark Shadows.”
Pumpkin carving time...
Beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, pumpkins will be carved at the library. This event is open to all ages, however, children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Come create a pumpkin masterpiece! The library will supply the carving tools and plenty of patterns to get your imagination going. Bring your own pumpkin or reserve one with the library for a small fee when you register.

October favorite is back...
The library is overflowing with some scary stories and some of the characters have escaped their books to haunt the “Not So Scary, Scary Library.”
The fun will take place starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at the LaGrange County Public Library on Spring St. in LaGrange.
Take a wagon ride around the area and see how many characters you can identify. The wagon ride is sponsored by Cook’s Bison Ranch.
Come play some games to win candy and prizes to fill your Halloween goody bags and enjoy a hot dog and other snacks. Don’t forget to wear a costume (no violent costumes or realistic weapons allowed). You could win a jack-o-lantern door prize to haunt your own house.
Prickly’s Story Time...
Have some “spooktacular” fun with Prickly and Librarian Laurel Nelson at the Topeka Branch Library’s weekly story time. This event takes place every Wednesday starting at 10 a.m.
Family Movie Night...
On Friday, Oct. 19, starting at 6 p.m. “Madagascar 3” will be shown at Topeka Branch Library. Come and enjoy the movie with the entire family. Popcorn will be provided.
There will also be a costume contest on this night. Kids can wear a costume to the movie and they might win a prize.
