LaGrange County Parks offering summer recreation programs


LaGrange County Parks are offering summer outdoor recreation opportunities for area young people. Day camps specialize in pioneer activities and nature study. Young teens can experience team building through challenge initiatives. Swimming lessons also available for new swimmers up through advanced levels.

There is a cost for each program.

By Gone Days Day Camp...

By Gone Days concentrates on pioneer and Indian games and crafts.  Attendees will learn a variety of old time activities that generations of kids spent the summer doing.

This five-day camp for kids ages 8-11 will be held June 11-15 at David Rogers Pioneer Village.

Nature Bound Day Camp...

Nature Bound campers will take part in nature games, environmental education, outdoor skills, and hands-on activities. Topics range widely from bugs to birds to water. There will also be lots of active time for games and swimming.

Sessions are June 25-29 for ages 6-8, July 9-13 for ages 9-11, and July 30-Aug. 3 for ages 6-8. Nature Bound meets daily at Dallas Lake Park. 

Adventure Bound Day Camp...

Adventure Bound is an exciting week for youth ages 12-15. 

Activities for Adventure Bound includes challenge initiatives, ropes courses, canoeing the Pigeon River, swimming, and other outdoor recreation. The camp will be held Aug. 6-10. Adventure Bound meets in various locations. Schedule will be provided upon registration.

Swimming lessons...

Swimming lessons are offered at Dallas Lake Park. Swimming lesson sessions meet for two weeks, 50 minutes daily, and are available to youth ages 5 and up.
