LaGrange County Parks November report



All LaGrange County offices will be closed on Monday, Nov, 12, for Veteran's Day, and Thursday and Friday, Nov. 22 and 23, for Thanksgiving.

There will be no interpretive services at Maple Wood Nature Center Nov. 22-25.

Master plan meeting...

The LaGrange County Parks and Recreation Board will hold a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Maple Wood Nature Center to present the preliminary 2013-2018 Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

Interested persons are invited to review and comment on the master plan before final approval.

Breakfast with the Birds...

Breakfast with the Birds will be at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21.

This program is for anyone who is free one Wednesday morning of each month. The program starts with coffee and doughnuts, then a talk or discussion is offered by a naturalist. Bring binoculars and enjoy a hike in the woods afterward. A small donation is recommended.

The topic for this month’s program is “Made in America.” A thanksgiving feast is not an idea original to the pilgrims. But many pilgrim traditions continue to this day. How much of our thanksgiving feast is native to the New World? Look at food’s indigenous to America that have been adopted all over the world.

Folk Jam...

This month’s Folk Music Jam Session will be from 1:30-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25. Jam sessions are mostly folk, country and bluegrass music with other styles thrown in from time to time.

Prairie seeding...

Prairie seeding with Blue Heron Ministries will begin at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the program center in at Pine Knob Park, Howe. Snacks will be served afterward.

The parks department needs to know if anyone intends to participate.

PineKnob Parkis located at 2835E SR 120, three miles east of Howe.

All programs, unless otherwise noted, are held at Maple Wood Nature Center, 4.5 miles east and one mile south of LaGrange.
