All LaGrange County offices are closed in observance of Memorial Day May 26.

Park pavilions are available for summer rental at Delt Church, David Rogers and Scott Mill Parks. The Program Center is available at Pine Knob Park as well as the Dallas Lake Park Lodge. For rates and availability contact the Park Office, 854 2225, lagrangecountyparks@ yahoo.com.

Park Night Walks…

Nature at Night is at least as active as it is for the daytime dwellers. To do your living after dark you must pay attention to your senses differently than in the light.

During this guided night walk you can encounter Nature at Night on its own terms. You have to feel the trail you are walking on. A scent can tell you which plants you are near. The sounds belong to voices that are seldom heard in sunlight.

Among the possible nighttime encounters can be flying squirrels, raccoons, whippoorwills, and bats. We may also see glow worms and glowing fungus. The best part is calling owls.

Wednesday, May 14, Maple Wood Nature Center, 4550E 100S, 8:00 p.m.

Thursday, June, 12 - Pine Knob Park, 2825E SR120, 8:30 p.m.

Breakfast with the Birds…

Breakfast with the Birds is for anyone who is free a Wednesday morning of each month. The program starts with coffee and doughnuts. Then a talk or discussion is offered by the naturalist. Bring your binoculars and enjoy a hike in the woods afterward. Recommended donation is $1.00.

This month, join us for a program on Meteorites on Wednesday, May 21 at 8:30 a.m.

Earth is pelted with space rocks constantly. Some are really big. Most aren't. In fact the majority of them draw no notice at all. They can be rocky or metalic. One could have lead to dinosaurs' demise. Examine pieces from out of this world. Guest Naturalist, Bob Dispenza.

Folk jam…

Folk Music Jam Sessions are hosted the fourth Sunday of the month. Jam sessions are mostly folk, country and bluegrass music with other styles thrown in from time to time.

This month’s jam is May 25, 1:30-5:00 p.  If you have any more questions contact Erv Troyer, 463-2247, reo43@aol.com or Maple Wood at 463-4022, lagrangecountyparks@yahoo.com.
