LaGrange County Community Foundation’s LIFE Youth Phi-lanthropy Group awards grants

The LaGrange County Community Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Group, LIFE, held a luncheon on Thursday, April 24th to recognize grant recipients from the 2013-2014 competitive grant cycles. LIFE heard from the organizations about how they are carrying out philanthropic work in LaGrange County utilizing the grant monies. LCCF Board of Directors approved grants recommended by LIFE for the Spring 2014 cycle totaling $5,675.

LIFE is composed of twenty volunteer students from ages 13-18 representing the four school systems in LaGrange County. Volunteer adult mentors or “guides” from the four public and private schools along with a “navigator” an adult representative from the Community Foundation coordinate activities for the group. Additional staff and members of the board of directors provide guidance and technical support. LIFE activities are generously supported through a grant from the Dekko Foundation. Topeka Elementary was one of the many groups supported through grants this year. LIFE was proud to offer support for this very successful event. Stay tuned to see what other deserving organizations were part of the grant process.
