Shawna Carbone took care of the inside, while Prairie Heights teammate McKenzie Kain rained down threes from the perimeter as the Lady Panthers upended NECC foe Eastside, 68-46 last Friday night in Brushy Prairie.
Carbone bulled her way to 26 points and 13 rebounds in leading Heights to its second NECC win. All of Carbone’s points came following a scoreless first quarter.
Kain swished 5-6 shots from beyond the three-point arc and ended up with 22 markers. Four of her triples came in the first half, helping stake the hosts to a 32-18 edge at the break.
Rene Lewis, starting for an ailing Tressa Terry, added eight points to the Prairie Heights ledger. Alicia Beachy came off the bench to put in six points, Haley Kleeberg chalked up four points and six rebounds, and Saige Dunafin dished out four assists.
Pacing Eastside with 24 points and 12 rebounds was Maddy Minehart. Leah Ward chipped in eight points and two steals to the Lady Blazer effort. Bri Moore had six points and both Kaci Shook and Emma Moughler netted four points and two steals.
Prairie Heights stands 5-5 overall.
