Lady Panthers hammer Eastside

Prairie Heights hammered Eastside, 62-12 in NECC girls basketball action last Friday night.

After a slow start which resulted in a slim, 9-6 Lady Panther lead through one period, coach Kevin Frey’s squad began to pull away from the visiting Lady Blazers in the second. A pair of triples by Tianna Terry sparked an 18-3 surge that pushed Heights to a 27-9 halftime lead.

The Lady Panthers continued to pour it on Eastside in the second half, as they out scored the Lady Blazers, 35-3 over the final 16 minutes to secure their sixth win overall and fourth in league play.

Terry wound up leading a balanced Prairie Heights scoring attack with 16 points. Kayla Feeney topped the remaining eight Lady Panthers who got into the scorebook with 11 markers.

Shawna Carbone’s seven rebounds helped the hosts log a 27-15 edge on the glass. She and Tressa Terry each collected four steals, while Logan Penick racked up six assists.

Lindsey Jones tallied six of Eastside’s 12 points.
