Knife threat leads to drug arrest

after midnight on May 14, officers from the LaGrange Police Department were dispatched to the Budget Motel in LaGrange regarding a man threatening another man with a knife.

    According to the police report, while an officer was talking to the caller at the scene, he allegedly observed in plain view items commonly associated with the use and manufacture of methamphetamine.

    After consent to search was given, a one-pot meth lab, paraphernalia, and finished meth was recovered.

    A resident at the motel, James Wine, 36, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.

    The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police Lab Team assisted during the investigation.
