County commissioners conducted a nuisance hearing April 16 regarding the property of Marlin and Mary Knepp located on CR 100N west of the Shore Mennonite Church. Knepp was fined $5,175 and the hearing was recessed until Monday.
Ordinance Enforcement Officer Jason Boggs told commissioners that substantial progress has been made but there is still work needed to complete the cleanup process.
Commissioner George Bachman said that he drove by the property Monday morning and there has been a 9,000 percent improvement.
Knepp was present at the meeting and said, “I am doing the work myself and am not quite done yet.” He also noted that he has made an appointment with Plan Commission Director Bob Schanahan to apply for a land use variance before the LaGrange County Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA).
After considerable discussion, commissioners moved to recess the hearing, holding the fine in abeyance. The hearing will be reconvened at 9:30 a.m. on July 2.
