Kenneth I. Warner, 86, Howe, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at his residence.
He was born January 12, 1926, in Sturgis, Mich., to Irving P. and Gladys F. (Sweitzer) Warner.
Living all his life in Howe, he was a 1944 graduate of Lima High School and a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946. He was stationed on the USS Bennington aircraft carrier and was a witness to the signing of the surrender of the war. He was the former owner and mechanic at Warner Garage in Howe, and also former co-owner of G & K Enterprises in Howe. He was the Lakeland School Corporation Bus Mechanic for over 35 years. He was a member of the Lima Presbyterian Church in Howe, serving as a deacon and trustee. He was a former member of the Howe Volunteer Fire Department, serving as fire chief for many years. He was a lifelong member of LaGrange American Legion Post 215 and a former member of the Howe Lions Club.
He was married June 24, 1950, in LaGrange, to Naida M. Libey. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gregory I. Warner, Howe, and Bradley O. Warner, Sturgis, Mich.; one grandson, Brandon M. Warner, Sturgis, Mich.; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kent and Marcella Libey, Elkhart, and Jack and Clara Libey, Lakeland, Fla.; five nieces; and one nephew.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Burial with military rites by LaGrange American Legion Post 215 will be in Riverside Cemetery, Howe.
