Katie Hochstetler


Katie J. Hochstetler, 93, Topeka, died Friday, February 10, 2012 at her son’s residence in Topeka. 

    She was born June 22, 1918, in LaGrange County, to John and Ida (Beachy) Eash.

    She was a homemaker and member of the Old Order Amish Church.

    She was married February 13, 1941 to Daniel A. Hochstetler. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2011.

    Surviving are four daughters, Ida Anna (Amos J.) Miller, Topeka, Mary Ellen (Ezra) Yoder, Shipshewana, Barbara Troyer, Shipshewana, and Lena (Paul) Helmuth, Carthage, Mo.; two sons, Ivan (Polly Anna) Hochstetler, Topeka, and Albert (Esther) Hochstetler, Topeka; 25 grandchildren; 133 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Polly Eash, Shipshewana, Wilma Eash, Shipshewana, Susie Fry, Topeka, and Mary Bontrager, Topeka.

    She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lena Beachy, two stillborn great-grandchildren, five brothers, Levi Eash, Tobe Eash, Lewis Eash, Neal Eash, and Eli Eash, four sisters, Lena Bontrager, Lucy Eash, Fannie Frey, and Esther Bontrager, a son-in-law, Elmer Troyer.

    Services were held Monday, February 13, at the Albert Hochstetler residence, 4900W 400S in Topeka, with Bishop Elva Lambright and Home Ministers officiating.

    Burial is in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange.
