Karl E. Wear, 72, Michigan City, Ind., died Friday, July 13, 2012 at his residence.
He was born April 9, 1940, in LaGrange, to Lutheran and Mary (Powell) Wear.
He was a 1958 graduate of LaGrange High School and a graduate of the Spartan School of Aeronautics. While growing up, he was active in the Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a retired security guard with Security Incorporated and also worked maintenance at local nursing homes. He was a member of the Salvation Army and Moose Family Center #98.
He was married June 7, 1970, in Valparaiso, Ind., to Shirley Mae "Sunbeam" Hoover. She survives.
Also surviving is one sister, Elaine (Rod) Rodkey, Elkhart; and one brother, Rex Wear, Chino Valley, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul E. Wear.
Visitation is9:30-10 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, at the Salvation Army in Michigan City, Ind.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, at the Salvation Army in Michigan City, Ind.
Private family entombment will take place at a later date in Chapel of the Chimes Mausoleum in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, Ind.
Root Funeral Home in Michigan City, Ind., is in charge of arrangements.
