LaGrangeCountystudent and hockey standout Karch Bachman has been named the 2012 East Coast Selects-O Player of the Year.
The annual award is given to one Selects Hockey player from each team who excels both on and off the field, according to Selects Sports management. “Your performance in Toronto at the Prospects Tournament really showed the level of player that you are and the way you responded at NAPS after coming off an injury showed your mental toughness that it takes to play this game,” noted Chris Flowers of Select Sports in announcing the award.
Bachman was commended for his high level of play during the spring, as well as for his respectful and positive attitude with his coaches and teammates alike.
Qualifications for the award include providing positive leadership, demonstrating great character amongst teammates and coaches, and playing the game with the determination of a champion.
Bachman will be leaving in August to attend Culver (Ind.) Academy to play on their U-16 AAA team.
Bachman is finishing up his summer at the USA National Team Development Camp in Ann Arbor, Mich. Earlier this summer, he was in Rochester, N.Y., where he tied for 5th in scoring at the USA Hockey Select 15 National Festival.
Bachman is also on the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) prospect list for the 2013 draft. The OHL consists of 20 teams in Ontario, Canada, Michigan, and Pennsylvania for players ages 15-20.
