Joseph U. Mast, 82, Goshen, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at John Hochstetler’s residence in Shipshewana.
He was born November 26, 1929, in Indiana, to Uriah and Lizzie (Slabaugh) Mast.
He was a farmer and member of the Old Order Amish Church. He had also worked in area factories, including Star Tank and Starcraft.
He was married January 13, 1949, in Elkhart County, to Josephine Slabach. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2012.
Surviving are five daughters, Ruby (Ernest) Miller, Middlebury, Thelma (Glen) Lehman, Nappanee, Annabelle (John) Hochstetler, Shipshewana, Mary (Ernest) Lehman, Goshen, and Doretta (Wayne) Yoder, Goshen; four sons, Wilbur (Marla) Mast, Goshen, Gerald (Marilyn) Mast, Goshen, Joe Dean (Ruth) Mast, Shipshewana, and Floyd (Arlene) Mast, LaGrange; 39 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; special friend Katie Yoder, Shipshewana; four brothers, Otis (Anna Mae) Mast, Macon, Miss., Elmer (Marie) Mast, Macon, Miss., Robert Mast, Carmen, Okla., and Wilbur (Judy) Mast, Etna Green, Ind.; and three sisters, Beulah (Elva) Beechy, Millersburg, Nancy (Harvey) Chupp, Eden, Minn., and Lizzie (Marvin) Miller, Nappanee.
He was preceded in death by three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Mast, and five brothers, Omer, Glen, Roman, William and Samuel Mast.
Visitation is all day Tuesday, September 4, at the family residence, 14735 CR 34 in Goshen.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, at the Larry Borkholder residence, 14835 CR 34 in Goshen, with Bishop Simon Schmucker and home ministers officiating.
Burial will be in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen.
