John Henry Watford, 80, Middlebury, died Friday, June 8, 2012 at his residence.
He was born May 31, 1932, in Bolivar County, Miss., to William Orson and Thelma (Haddan) Watford.
He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, a member of the Masons, built his own home, started his own business, Welded Products in Mishawaka, Ind., and was received his pilot’s license when he was in his late 40s.
He was married May 24, 1949, in McComb, Miss., to Irene Frances Winborne. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2006.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Richard) Willis, Walton, Ky., and Tina (Randal) Powell, Howe; one son, Stephen (Lisa) Watford, Mishawaka, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chamous Watford, South Bend, Ind., and Benny Lee Watford, Hattiesburg, Miss.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Miller, one brother, Willis, and one sister, JoEllen.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 11, at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury.
