John Paul Blackburn, 84, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the home where he was born.
He was born August 19, 1929 to Ross and Gladys (Johnson) Blackburn.
He was a graduate of Salem Center High School and began a milk route after high school graduation until he was called to serve in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. He returned home and continued hauling milk for 60 years. He was a member of the Hudson United Brethren Church, where he served on the board of trustees for several years.
He was married November 22, 1953, in the former Ashley-Hudson Nazarene Church, to Lenna Jean Potts. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Peggy (Jeffrey) Lechlitner, Goshen, Ind., and Susan (Mike) Ferrell, Angola, Ind.; two sons, John M. (Heidi) Blackburn, Angola, Ind., and Timothy (Jodi) Blackburn, Angola, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, Benjamin (Sarah Blosser) Lechlitner, Johnathan (Trisha) Lechlitner, Christopher (Heather) Lechlitner, Abigail Lechlitner, Dane (Andrea) Blackburn, David (Kelly) Blackburn, Brooke (Jacob) Hantz, Brittany Blackburn, Trevor (Jennifer) Ferrell, Matthew (Chista) Blackburn, Marjorie (Andrew) Hershman, and Kelly Blackburn; 10 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service was held Monday, July 21, at Hudson United Brethren Church with Pastor Craig Burkholder officiating.
Burial is in Circle Cemetery, Hudson.
