Jenell Burger, director of nursing at Life Care Center of LaGrange, was named Director of Nursing of the Year for Life Care Centers of America’s Heartland Division on April 16.
The award was given during Life Care’s annual Directors of Nursing Meeting held in Cleveland, Tenn. It is given to the director of nursing in each of Life Care’s eight divisions who demonstrates outstanding qualities in several areas, including customer service ratings, staff development, and successful state surveys.
During the meeting, Burger was praised for hiring nursing associates with a superior work ethic and for pushing her staff to increase their skill set to better care for residents. Along with her high expectations, Burger mentors her associates and leads by example. The facility’s clinical outcomes are very good, and she has even helped at other area Life Care centers.
Burger was selected from all the directors of nursing in Life Care’s Heartland Division, which encompasses 22 facilities in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
“Jenell Burger is a living example of what the honorable nursing profession is all about,” said Life Care President Beecher Hunter. “She administers her God-given talents in a spirit of love and compassion to help make the lives of others better. We’re proud of her and all of our nursing award winners.”
Life Care honored seven other divisional winners and a company-wide Director of Nursing of the Year, as well as a customer service winner.
