The Prairie Heights School Board voted Monday evening to hire Assistant Superintendent Jeff Reed as the district’s new superintendent, effective July 2014.
Reed, who began his teach career as a 4th and 5th grade teacher, has been with the district since 2007. He has been assistant superintendent since last spring.
He taught at Columbia City and Wawasee prior to his move to Prairie Heights.
“I would like to thank the board for giving me the opportunity to serve as the next superintendent of Prairie Heights Community Schools,” Reed said after the appointment. “Prairie Heights has been very good to me. It’s a great place to attend school and receive an excellent education. We are very fortunate to have great kids here. I look forward to working with the board, administration, and the Prairie Heights staff. More importantly, I’m excited to work with our parents and community to help our students be as successful as possible.”
Reed noted later that the district has seen a lot of changes over the past four years and he plans to maintain and improve on those changes that have already taken place.
