Jay Keck

Jay Eldon Keck, 67, Wolcottville, died Thursday, October 9, 2014, at his residence.

    He was born January 20, 1947, in Kendallville, Ind., to Ralph E. Sr. and Ruth E. (Walburn) Keck.

    Living all his life in the area, he was a graduate of Lakeland High School and a Vietnam veteran, serving from 1965-1971 with the Echo 27 Division in the U.S. Marine Corps and in the U.S. Navy.

    He was married April 3, 1971, in Wolcottville, to Linda Lou Keister.  She survives.

    Also surviving are one daughter, Carrie N. Keck, Kendallville, Ind.; one son, Aaron (Jessica) Keck, Woodruff, Ind.; three grandchildren, Makayla Keck, Kaitlyn Keck, and Derek "DJ" Smead; two sisters, Helen Baird, Kendallville, Ind., and Phyllis (Bill) Vanderpool, Wolcottville; two brothers, Wayne Keck, Wolcottville, and Larry (Nell) Keck, Emmalena, Ky.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Virginia Schmidt, and six brothers, Ralph Keck Jr., Richard Keck, Phil Keck, Byron Keck, Chuck Keck, and Lynn "Cork" Keck.

    Funeral service was held Monday, October 13, at Young Family Funeral Home Wolcottville Chapel with Pastor Rich Secor officiating.

    Burial is in Sweet Cemetery, Albion, Ind.
