Janice Delong

Janice Earlene Delong,76, Big Turkey Lake in LaGrange, died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Gulfside Hospice while wintering in New Port Richey, Fla.

    She was born August 7, 1938, in Hicksville, Ohio, to Earl Mickelson and Edna Mae (Bailey) Kilpatrick.

    She was a 1956 graduate of Riverdale High School in St. Joe, Ind. She worked at Kraft Foods in Kendallville for 30 years before retiring in 1998. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Avilla, Ind., where she was active with the Methodist Women and as a youth leader.  She also belonged to the Swan Swingers Home Demonstration Club.

    She was married January 10, 1960, in the United Brethren Church in Newville, Ind., to Robert Gene DeLong. He survives.

    Also surviving arethree daughters, Vanita Agee, Kendallville, Ind., Cynthia "Cindy" Harding and her friend Ed Rasler, both of Big Turkey Lake, and Deandra "Ann" and Matthew Ellis, Auburn, Ind.; Son, one son, Charles "Chuck" DeLong, Big Turkey Lake; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Agee, Daniel Agee, Derek Agee, Mackenzie Bolinger, Martha Harding, Lydia Harding, Khoven Ellis, and Klaire Ellis; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

    She was preceded in death by two brothers, Delmer "Bud" Mikelson and William "Bill" Mickelson.

    Funeral service was heldWednesday, February 25, at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville, Ind.

    Burial is in Lake View Cemetery, Kendallville, Ind.
