Janealene Griewank

Janealene (Vargo)Griewank passed away February 22, 2012 with her family by her side.

She was a lifelong homemaker who worked for a time in after school programs in Rohnert Park, Calif. Affectionately known by many as “Jane,” “Miss Jane,” “Auntie Jane,” and “Grandma Jane,” she touched the lives of many people with her smile and warm generosity. Janealene brought joy and happiness to everyone she came in contact with and she had the incredible ability to make everyone feel very special in their own way.

Janealene will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Richard; her son Nick and daughter-in-law Bridgette; her grandsons Zack and Dylan; her sister Diana Rohrer; her father-in-law John; sister-in-laws Beverly Lang and Diane; her brother-in-laws Don, Bill, Mike, Max Lang and Dan Rohrer; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and a very large extended family and friends stretched across the United States.

Janealene’s ashes will be laid to rest beside her grandmother, Mertie Detwiler, in Goshen, Ind.

A celebration of Janealene’s life will be held sometime in late April on the West Coast around Janealene and Richard’s anniversary. This will be followed by a celebration of Janealene’s life in Indiana in July 2012.

Those wishing to attend one of Janealene’s celebrations of life please email

With the joy Janealene brought to others there is no doubt Janealene has reported for duty as a newly appointed Guardian Angel for those of us in need of a helping hand. Go in peace my love – go in peace – as we will always love you!

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation,
