James Douglas “Jim” Jacobs, 70, Wolcottville died Sunday, February 26, 2012, at his residence.
He was born June 18, 1941, in Lansing, Mich., to Barney and Dorothy (Bradley) Jacobs.
Moving from Michigan to this area in 1995, he retired from General Motors in Lansing, Mich. He was a member of Crosspointe Family Church of the Nazarene in Kendallville and a U.S. Army veteran.
He was married February 27, 1993, in Lansing, Mich., to Carolyn Ann (Wood) Nellis. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Dorothy Jacobs, Florida; one daughter, Jamie Burgess, Mason, Mich.; three sons, James Douglas Jacobs II, Lansing, Mich., Ryan Jacobs, Houghton Lake, Mich., and Jeffrey Jacobs, Taylor, Mich.; two stepsons, John (Jessica) Nellis, Corning, N.Y., and Camron (Hayley) Nellis, Owosso, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and three sisters, Barbara Perfitt, Palm Harbor, Fla., Norma Oakey, Hudson, Fla., and Sharon Nillsson, Mason, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his father, Barney Jacobs, and one son, Bradley Jacobs.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Crosspointe Family Church of the Nazarene in Kendallville with Pastor Rich Secor officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City, Mich.
