James Baldwin

James W. Baldwin, 69, LaGrange, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Ind.

    He was born April 6, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to Claude O. and Margaret E. (McFarland) Baldwin.

    Moving from Sturgis, Mich., to LaGrange in 1981, he was a welder for many years at Dexter Axle and a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in LaGrange.

    He was married August 8, 1981, to Mary L. (Massuch) Bishop. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2010.  He was married May 13, 2011 to Diana Eaton. She survives.

    Also surviving is one son, Joel M. Nighswander, Coldwater, Mich.; two stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Pam and Mike Farber, LaGrange, and Patti and George Buchhalter, St. Petersburg, Fla.; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, James and Roxanne Bishop, Charlotte, N.C.; nine stepgrandchildren; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Debra Thompson, Sturgis, Mich., and Andrea Colwell, Manning, S.C.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one stepson, Jon Bishop, three stepgrandsons, Douglas Jenkins, Chad Shively, and Travis Bishop, and one brother, Danny Baldwin.

    Funeral service was held Monday, August 31, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange with Reverend Roger Moyer officiating.

    Burial is in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
