Jack Edward DeBolt, 80, Wolcottville, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne.
He was born June 4, 1932, in Ft. Wayne, to Raymond Carl and Mabel L. (Wiswell) DeBolt.
Moving to the area from Ft. Wayne in 1987, he was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and a medic while in Korea. He retired in 1989 as the manager of maintenance at NIPSCO in Ft. Wayne. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville, Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, and the Kendallville Eagles Lodge. He was active in the Boy Scouts when his sons were young. He also served as president of the Springwood Addition in Ft. Wayne. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Honor Guard and volunteered at Parkview Noble Hospital.
He was married December 4, 1954, in Ft. Wayne, to Betty J. Swift. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline A. (Charles) O’Brien, Fishers, Ind., and Diane K. (Robert) Hermann, Ft. Wayne; two sons, Stephen R. (Roberta) DeBolt, Ft. Wayne, and David W. DeBolt, Ft. Wayne; nine grandchildren, Michelle Zahm, Christopher Glasgow, Lindsey Dillon, Amie DeBolt, Angela Patterson, David DeBolt, Michael O’Brien, Emily DeBolt, and Matthew O’Brien; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Patricia (Clyde) Smith, Ft. Wayne.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert DeBolt and Richard DeBolt, and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Zahm.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Young Family Funeral Home Kendallville Chapel, and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville with Reverend Robert Shriner officiating.
Burial with honor guard services by Rome City American Legion Post 381 and Kendallville VFW Post 2749 will be in Concordia Gardens, Ft. Wayne.
