Israel Yoder


Israel Eugene “Izzy” Yoder, 21, Ligonier, died April 5, 2012 as the result of a swimming accident in Haiti while serving on a mission trip.

    He was born December 4, 1990, in LaGrange, to Daniel and Laura (Wickey) Yoder.

    He was a member of Eden Worship Center in Honeyville and Church of Hope in Sarasota, Fla. He received his diploma from Sarasota High School in 2008 and was a carpenter with his father, owner of JDL Construction.

    Surviving are his parents, Daniel and Laura Yoder; three sisters, Naomi J. Yoder, Abigal R. Yoder, and Ariana D. Yoder, all of Ligonier; one brother, Caleb L. Yoder, Ligonier; and grandparents John and Lydia M. Yoder, Arcadia, Fla., and Cornelius and Lena Wickey, LaGrange.

    He was preceded in death by a stillborn brother, Little Joe Yoder.

    Services were held Sunday, April 15, at Eden Worship Center with Daniel Yoder officiating. There will also be a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, at the Church of Hope in Sarasota, Fla.

    Burial is in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.
