Intoxicated driver leaves scene of accident

The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department was contacted on May 11 regarding an accident on CR 00EW south of CR 50W.

According to the police report, the caller stated the vehicle involved was on its side and the driver was walking northbound from the crash scene.

Officers located the driver, Corey Lee Conley, 22, of Auburn, in a hay field just south of CR 100S. Conley allegedly admitted to officers he was the driver of the vehicle involved and was walking away from the crash due to his consumption of alcohol. Cause of the accident was a high rate of speed and Conley braking heavily after missing a turn. The vehicle skidded several hundred feet prior to leaving the roadway and rolling over.

Conley was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), a Class A misdemeanor.
