In conjunction with Chocolate Day in Shipshewana on Saturday, Nov. 16, Elizabeth Parvu of South Bend, an internationally-known pastry chef and culinary expert, will provide free demonstrations of molding chocolate into small sleighs at Yoder’s Shopping Center.
Parvu will be available for demonstrations and questions from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. In addition to the demonstrations, free chocolate and coffee samples will be provided.
“It’s pretty remarkable to welcome an award-winning chef of this caliber, who also happens to be located nearby,” said Andre Yoder, general manager at Yoder Department Store. “We’re all very excited to see what she has in store.”
Demonstrations will be held in the space of the new Seven Sisters Eatery and Fireside Café within Yoder'’s Shopping Center, opening spring 2014. Free chocolate and gourmet coffee samples will be provided during the demonstrations.
Parvu will be in Shipshewana immediately following competitions and demonstrations for the Société Culinaire Philanthropique in New York City, one of the oldest chefs associations in the U.S. She is recognized around the world for her sugar flowers and award-winning cake designs. Parvu has been published numerous times in American Cake Decorating magazine, Cake & Craft Decoration magazine (England) and was listed in the December 2007 issue of Gourmet magazine. She is the owner of Sugarpaste, LLC and co-owns Crystal Colors LLC with her husband, Ronald. They operate a kosher-certified manufacturing site for Crystal Colors.
