Connie Lawson, Indiana’s Secretary of State, will be meeting with election boards and officials from LaGrange, Noble, DeKalb and Steuben counties from 10 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, April 24, at the DeKalb County Office Building in Auburn, Ind. The meeting is about vote centers and is open to the public.
Lawson will discuss the benefits of vote centers and things county officials should consider when deciding whether to implement them. Clerks from counties already utilizing vote centers will relate their experiences.
Vote centers give registered voter more flexibility by allowing them to vote anywhere in the county rather than at traditional precinct places. As ballots are cast at a vote center, an electronic poll book is updated instantaneously via a secure internet connection.
