Ida Mae Bontrager

Ida Mae Bontrager, 78, Shipshewana, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at her residence.

    She was born October 28, 1936, in LaGrange County, to Edward and Amelia (Miller) Slabach.

    She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

    She was married April 26, 1956, in LaGrange County, to Perry Jay Bontrager. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1988.

    Surviving are five daughters, Amelia "Sue" (Edwin) Yoder and  LaVera M. (Harley) Schlabach, both of Middlebury, Marlene K. (DeWayne) Bontrager, Shipshewana, Anna M. (Mervin) Yoder, Goshen, Norma J. (LeRoy) Lambright, Shipshewana; two sons, Marvin L. (Ida) Bontrager and Norman R. (Kathryn) Bontrager, both of Shipshewana; 37 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nettie Hochstetler and Katie Yoder, both of Shipshewana; and two brothers, Chris (Ramah) Slabach and Edward Slabach Jr., both of Shipshewana.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Bontrager, and one brother, Ervin Slabach.

    Funeral service was held Sunday, July 12, at the Henry Schwartz residence, 6255N 900W in Shipshewana, with Bishop Ervin Dean Bontrager and home ministers officiating.

    Burial is in Lehman Cemetery, Shipshewana.
