Howe UMC again creating Memorial Christmas Tree

It’s that time of year, when we especially think of loved ones who have died. In memory of them, the Howe United Methodist Church is making a Memorial Christmas Tree available to the public again. The tree will be decorated with wooden angel, star, or heart ornaments. The name of a loved one will be on each ornament.

This will be the church’s 25th annual event with the “Living Memorial Tree.” The ornaments from last year can be placed on the tree by making another donation. Proceeds from the program will continue to be used to improve the Howe Town Park.

The community is invited to a brief memorial service at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, in front of the tree in the Howe Town Park. At that time the list of names will be read and the tree will be lit. The tree will stay lit until Jan. 12, 2013. Ornaments may be picked up anytime throughout that week.

There is a form to fill out if participants wish to have an ornament placed on the tree. Forms must be returned to the church no later than Nov. 24.
