A Howe teen was struck by a semi at the intersection of SR 9 and SR 120 Tuesday afternoon.
According to the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, Bradley Lewis, 15, was at the Steel City gas station on the west side of SR 9 when he attempted to cross to the east side of the road.
A semi driven by Michael D. Denton, 54, of Canton, Mich., was northbound on SR 9 and attempted to avoid hitting Lewis by swerving to the right, but was unable to miss the teen. The semi jumped the curb and struck a street sign before coming to a stop.
Lewis was airlifted by Samaritan Life Flight to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne with a fractured skull, broken right lower leg and lacerations.
Assisting at the scene was the Indiana State Police, Howe Fire Department and LaGrange County EMS.
